Beauty Items You Need to Keep in the Fridge

Beauty / June 08, 2018

The efficacy of your beauty product relies upon a lot of factors. There is the ingredients. There’a also how you use it and how often. It’s also about how compatible it is to your skin type. A lot of you are aware of this and perhaps have developed your own routine with the beauty products you’ve tried and tested.

But I think we often neglect that our beauty items work best when we keep them properly. You need to store your skincare and makeup items in the right place so you can reap their benefits to the maximum. Most beauty products can’t be exposed to the sun, some are sensitive to the elements in the air that’s why you need to use them up quickly once you open them.

Some need to be placed in your refrigerator. Yes, you read that right. Clear a small shelf among your eggs and butter to have a section for your beauty items. There are a few people who even have a mini-fridge in their vanity… but let’s talk about that another time.

Storing your products makes their life a little longer and, obviously, give you a cooling effect on your skin. I advice you take a good, hard look at the products that use regularly and see what would benefit from being chilled.

If you need a handy guide, here are a few things you can put inside the things pronto.

#1 Moisturizer

At night, the added cooling effect of a chilled moisturizer will make your skin happy. You can feel the hydration instantly. If you suffer from skin redness, this is also the trick to soothe the irritation.

#2 Eye Cream

If you have puffy eyes in the morning, a cold eye cream will be its saving grace. The cold temperature will constrict the expansion around your eyes. It will also wake you right up for a big meeting along with your morning coffee.

#3 Perfume

Though you may not better than not to keep your perfume and cologne in direct heat or sunlight, your vanity can still be a pretty hot place. Natural humidity, the use of heat styling tools for the hair, your hot showers change the temperature of the room which your perfume is sensitive to. Start putting your perfume and cooling mists in the refrigerator and I think you’ll have a new meaning to the word fresh.

#4 Mascara

Liquid products tend to have a short shelf life but not if your put them in the fridge. Aside from stretching the life span of your mascara, the fridge can also help it stay on your lashes longer.

#5 Anything with Vitamin C

The purer the vitamin C is in your skincare or makeup item, the more sensitive it is. Once the vitamin C breaks down, you miss out on its radiance-giving effects. But when placed in a controlled temperature, your serums, creams, and masks with Vitamin C will last longer. You also manage to keep the purity of the vitamin C.

#6 Masks and Toners

If you need a special touch to your at-home pampering session, chill your serums and masks at least 15 minutes before you use them. It will instantly make the face feel good and calm down any irritations. This is best done after a long, hot day.

#7 Nail Polish

Runny polish or one that’s has a formula that’s already separating has been heat damaged. You can make your nail polishes survive a brutal heatwave by sticking them in the fridge. But just wait for them to completely return to room temperature before painting your nails.
