Scary Movies Best for Your V-Day Movie Marathon

Culture / February 13, 2018
I’m not one to go for the cheesy and usual route when celebrating Valentine’s Day. As I realized the celebration is upon us, I thought of scary movies. Why? It’s the best way and reason to cuddle up together for your date. If you’re a scaredy cat, you’ll also find the courage to watch this films you’ve been missing out on. If you haven’t noticed, scary movies are becoming more relevant and aren’t just about the usual jump scares. I’d like to be updated on that as much as I like.
As you prepare for tomorrow’s big day, have these lined up on your chosen streaming service or star downloading them (legally!) tonight.

#1 It Follows

Sure, this is qualified more as a thriller, but the premise will keep you up at night. The unknown and unseen curse passed on to a teenager and unravels more than just a scary scenario and how paranoia is enough to keep your heart racing.

#2 Get Out

This woke film is up for three Academay Award nominations this year. I can’t imagine a better movie to emphasize the ongoing realizations we have about race, discrimination, and privilege.

#3 The Witch

Here’s a movie with a simple story but with a complex, heart-stopping execution. You’ll sleep with the lights on for nights on end.

#4 The Silence of the Lambs

I have to throw in a classic in here and what’s better than the film which continues to be a pop culture reference. You’ve seen the new Google Alexa ad with Anthony Hopkins, right?

#5 Hereditary

A classic story about how our family secrets can be the darkest ones. You might start questions your relatives after this one so watch with caution.
