A lot would be amiss if people won’t do what they can to help make the world a better place. People suffer, communities bear the scars of past conflicts, and causes need attention.
International labels are fully aware and have adopted it in their company values. They’re using their voice to remind us of the need to help.
It also leaves us with no excuse but to be more conscious of how everyday activities can be used to make people’s lives better.
Recently, Michael Kors launched “Watch Hunger Stop”—a video campaign in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP).
It features a colorful T-shirt designed by Brazilian artist Eli Subrack of Avaf (Assume Vivid Astro Focus). For every shirt purchased, Michael Kors will donate 100 meals to the WFP, to help in the United Nations mission to end food hunger by 2030.
Meals for selfies
Harnessing the power of social media, Michael Kors also promises 100 more meals donated for every T-shirt selfie, while 25 meals will be donated for every Snapchat post with the Watch Hunger Stop geofilter.
The initiative will continue until March 2019, with Michael Kors planning to donate up to 2 million meals.
There is also a special edition Michael Kors Watch Hunger Stop watch, which helps children in need through every piece sold.
Stella McCartney is helping out via stellamccartneycares.org. Since 2014, her label has been active in breast cancer awareness by pioneering global campaigns and donating proceeds from products featured, as well as giving support to charities worldwide.

Breast cancer awareness is a cause that hits close to home. In 1998, McCartney’s mother, Linda, died of it.
The campaign that launched stellamccartneycares.org is a film, “All Is Love,” with Idris Elba and the stories of breast cancer survivors. On the website are interviews and various endeavors they advocate, such as The Hello Beautiful Foundation and The SCAR Project.
They also donated 1,000 “Louise Listening” bras, an undergarment specifically designed for breast cancer survivors.
The website also offers the Rose Romancing Soft Cup Bra and the All is Love Bandana. Purchases of each item help the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, the Hello Beautiful Foundation in London, and Memorial Sloan Kettering in the United States.
When it comes to brands with a continuing effort to help people in need, there’s Toms and its One for One model. With every purchase of Toms products, the company helps in giving shoes, sight, water, safe birth and bullying prevention services to the less fortunate.
It offers the Giving Shoes, designed for school and play children who receive them can get closer to achieving their dreams.
