Holiday shopping: gifting with purpose

Beauty / November 27, 2020

This year, I believe gift-giving is all the more important. Being away and isolated from our loved ones and coming to terms with what really matters is what reflects in the presents I’m buying for my friends and loved ones.

There has to be some purpose to what we give out this season. Fitness buffs and those constantly working on improving their bodies will appreciate Groove. The local activewear line recently launched a Primary Colors collection. Each tank bra and compressive tights are made of around 20 to 30 recycled plastic bottles.

I also believe in gifts that offer a promise. As 2020 comes to a close, travel is slowly going to be in our plans again. I would say that it helps to invest in the latest from Tumi. Their Holiday 2020 offers include the Harrison collection—modern styles for weekend trips or even pieces for those who need to carry a little extra as they go about their daily journey.

The designs are modern yet timeless, so you’ll want to carry them forever. The new William Backpack is compact and lightweight—perfect for everyday use, from office to weekend. This backpack offers a USB power port to keep you connected and powered up. The new North/South Parker Tote is a functional, convertible bag featuring a clean, lightweight design and integrating USB functionality.

Finally, the Ridge Rucksack Backpack is a modern take on the classic rucksack style. This versatile backpack features a built-in USB and plenty of innovative interiors and exterior organization. Core colors include black, navy, and black leather, while the new seasonal colorway is charcoal ombre.

During my last visit to SM Aura Premier, I saw the first location of Maison Christian Dior in the Philippines. Here you will not only get to experience Dior Beauty’s offerings, but you can also indulge in the brand’s The Art of Gifting. Every Dior gift is an experience that is personalized. The Art of Gifting has always been a Dior House tradition since the opening of the very first boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne back in 1947. This tradition continues in the Dior Beauty boutiques where clients can personalize their Dior gifts. This applies whether you are getting the signature Dior Rouge 999 or limited edition sets like the Miss Dior Rose N’Roses, set which includes a travel spray, eau de toilette, and fragrance miniature.

For the person who can’t wait to get out of loungewear, there’s Kenzo. You can explore their pop-up store until Nov. 30 at Greenbelt 5, which features mannequins that represent the Kenzo lifestyle. A flexible figure dons a Kenzo monogrammed toroid-shaped accessory like a lifesaver, another stands upright, curiously sporting the monogrammed wave mat, while another wears a monogrammed tube as if it were a layered scarf.

Explore four highly curated racks showcasing vibrantly hued pieces from the recently dropped Kenzo Sport collection, which is part of Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s investiture as the brand’s newly appointed creative director.
