#NYFW Report: Let’s hear it for the working woman

Fashion / September 10, 2019

September has me reeling since this is fashion month. In New York, the shows have been in full swing since the 4th. Among the many labels, I choose to put the spotlight on a few Asian-American designers, going to them for stylish but reliable options for the chic working woman.

3.1 Philip Lim

The look: The chic boss who wants comfort, color, and volume.

Prabal Gurung

When off-hours, the working woman is either running errands or hitting the gym in cool, contrasting athleisure or out at night in Gurung signature pieces that show off an edge.

Jason Wu

When out traveling, what does this woman wear? Florals, long vests, loose pants, and flowy dresses inspired by Irving Penn photographs. The artist is where Jason got his idea for his latest collection.

Snow Xue Gao

A newcomer who got nominated for the LVMH prize, Snow Xue Gao merges East and West, fun and function in suits that are half in print and half in the traditional make.
