The Dishes I Avoid During a Dinner Date

Culture / February 07, 2018

In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, I thought about how one should prepare for the big day. Most likely, you’re going to dinner with your significant other. When dining out, there are a few dishes that kill the mood a little bit. No idea what I am talking about? I’m referring to how some dishes might prevent you from getting close with your partner. On any other day, this would be great. But when on a romantic dinner, I warn you against these culinary choices.

#1 Dishes with lots of garlic

This includes ramen and most savory Filipino fare. Garlic makes food delicious but it also leave a smell that lingers long and won’t go away with a simple mint. I think I don’t need to explain myself why you should steer clear of this on Valentine’s Day.

#2 Beans

Beans are filling and are even found in some desserts. But you might want to skip on this if you want to avoid being gassy.

#3 Spicy food

Perhaps a bite of kimchi won’t be of harm but if a full spicy dish will make you regret it as soon as your significant other wants to get close.

#4 Crabs and other crustaceans

There’s no cute way to eat them with your hands. Don’t even try.

#5 Squid ink rice

You won’t be able to smile after. It also is a mood breaker when you constantly have to check your teeth as you eat. Also something difficult to eat if you’re wearing something white.
