“It was a name that sounded so sweet, so seductive. Synonymous with wealth, style, power. But that name was cursed too,” says Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani in the opening clips to the official trailer for House of Gucci. If that doesn’t give you goosebumps or get you a little excited, you might need to pray harder to “Father, Son, and House of Gucci”
Months after the photo teasers we saw on Instagram, the trailer gives us the best glimpse so far into this much-hyped about Ridley Scott piece. The film brings together a powerhouse cast with Lady Gaga laying on her Italian accent thick and Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci. Jared Leto is unrecognizable in layers of makeup to age him into Paolo Gucci while Hollywood veterans Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons play the rest of the Gucci brood as Aldo and Rodolfo respectively.
House of Gucci plays on the fascination we have over glamour side-by-side unspeakable horror. In the description it says, that the movie is “inspired by the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.”
The movie is set for release in theaters on Nov. 24. It takes from the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Foden.
