What makes a good hand cream?

Beauty / October 29, 2021

The value of a good hand cream should not be overlooked. They are not just stocking stuffers so perhaps this year, you can get a little more excited about receiving them for Christmas. The constant handwashing and cleaning we have done in the past year and 10 months has infused in use the importance of our hands, and the significance of giving them the care they deserve.

On top of a good hand wash, I believe investing in good hand cream or saving up on a few tubes or so to share will be a lifesaver. It seems frivolous but when your hands are dry, itchy, and a bit tough in certain spots, it bothers you. Our hands do so much work that when one thing about them is off and we feel it.

In my search, I’ve lined up the best hand creams.

The first is from Kahina Giving Beauty. It has a rich formula of fatty acid-rich Argan Oil and Shea Butter. Aloe Vera is there to calm irritation. What’s special about it too the brand’s signature ‘Essaouira’ scent, which includes floral and citrus essential oils.

If you need something a bit more lightweight but also effective. Claus Porto’s cream is silky but not sticky. It also carries an uplifting fragrance of Red Berries, Poppies, Roses, Patchouli Leaf, and Pepper. It is the Portuguese label’s ‘Favorito’ scent.

Kahina Giving Beauty and Claus Porto are available via Net-A-Porter.

The third one you want to consider is from Sephora.ph. A  favorite among beauty vloggers is the By Terry Baume De Rose Hand Cream. A signature of By Terry, the Baume De Rose line is a  non-oily formula with repairing rose butter, soothing rosehip oil, and hydrating rose flower essential wax. The delicate scent will not overpower and even give you a sense of luxury.

Fourth on my list is the Oribe Cote d’Azur Nourishing Hand Creme. This is for those who need something extra against dryness and damage. It is made of  Sweet Almond, Meadowfoam & Starflower Oil.  Sodium Hyaluronate deeply moisturizes to improve elasticity and keep hands soft and smooth. There’s also Shea Butter, rich in Vitamin A, which hydrates and nourishes the skin. On top of that is Aloe Leaf Juice heals and repairs while restoring essential moisture and Glycerin and Panthenol protect to prevent dryness resulting in youthful-looking skin.

My last pick is from Susanne Kaufmann. This no non-sense blend features unique ingredients like  Broccoli Seed. It contains alpha-linolenic acid and Vitamin A and E. You also get mallow to protect your skin from environmental stressors, moisturize, and soothe irritation. Witch Hazel is added for anti-inflammatory and astringent properties.

Oribe and Susanne Kaufmann are available via Beautylish.
