What to Look Out for at the Singapore Biennale 2016

Culture / December 01, 2016

I finally had the free time to fly to Singapore and check out the Singapore Biennale last November.

I love art; a trip to my house and you’ll see just how much I adore it. So for me to head to a neighboring country to check out the freshest in the contemporary art scene is just so… me. Would you blame me for being impulsive?

On to the show: I loved every single corner of it. Titled An Atlas of Mirrors, this year’s biennale was all about showcasing perspectives of different individuals hailing from different parts of the globe. And even with these differences, the art shown here reminded us visitors that sometimes, the best way to learn about the world and ourselves is through others.

The variety here was amazing. Artists dabbled in different media but my favorites were the massive installations. It’s also a treat to see our very own Gregory Halili and Dex Fernandez join the show.

Here’s a glimpse of the pieces still up at the Singapore Art Museum. The exhibition runs till February 2017.
