Dry Only Looks Good for the Desert, Not On Your Skin

No matter how many beauty routines and trends become popular, I believe you can never do without moisturizing. Ask anyone who’s tried it all and they’ll tell you that the secret to great skin is always to keep it hydrated. Water and your skin’s moisture locking properties are the key to keeping every other skin problem at bay.
Skin needs moisture in order to function properly. The natural chemistry on your skin will only work if you protect it and if you give it some help when it gets a little dry. Even oily skin needs moisturizing. Why? Because the extra oil production is your skin’s way of compensating for the dryness on your face.
Moisturizing isn’t just about an immediate effect. I sure love the feeling of applying moisturizer after a long day. It’s cooling and instantly calms any redness that you have among other things. But when you moisturize every day, you reap the long-term benefits. You give your skin a boost so the wrinkles don’t run deeper or come at all. Moisturizer also keeps acne away among other stress-induced skin spots as it keep your dermis balanced.
Other than this, a moisturizer serves as a layer of protection for your skin. It’s a barrier that is as important as sunscreen especially when you’re exposed to the elements. This is why I moisturize day and night. At the day time, it’s for protection. At night, a good moisturizer is for skin renewal. You can use the same moisturizer for both. But it’s also good if you have a few options, depending on your skin’s condition. Oh, don’t forget that moisturizer is a good base for makeup. Everything goes on smoothly because of it.
Aside from finding the right moisturizer, application is also important. For me, I love rubbing the moisturizer on my hands and then pressing it gently on my face. If you’re overzealous and you rub your face harshly, you’ll being doing more harm than good. Be gentle.
