There’s a new It girl in town, and she isn’t even 18 yet.
Meet Kaia Gerber, the 16-year-old daughter of American supermodel Cindy Crawford and now a legit model herself. Just four days since reaching the age limit for models walking on the runway, the rising model of the moment made her fashion week debut in Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein 205W39NYC collection and scored the legendary achievement of opening the most recent Chanel show.
Kaia’s rapid rise in the fashion world may be attributed to her mother, a classic American beauty icon, but her arrival has signaled what could be the next movement in fashion. The L.A. Times noted that her serial appearances mark the comeback of the “beautiful girl” on the runway, an ode to the golden age of supermodels back in ’80s and ’90s.
While the model’s purpose had always been to forward a vision and promote the items they wear or carry, Kaia’s supermodel looks are bringing godly beauty back in the game.
There’s a youthful bounce to her step that was neither sultry nor forced. I was stunned by her height and moreso by her commanding presence. Her broad shoulders gave great form to the clothes and brought them to life. I personally loved how easily she took in the character of the brands she modeled for; at the end of the day, she’s really more than just a pretty face.
In case you’re still wondering where she got it, here’s a look back at some of Cindy Crawford’s best moments. Believe me, I’d take long if I put in everything!
