For a millennial, I’m a slow adapter. I’m not yet on a TikTok hook, I still love good old Instagram as a visual breaker.
The platform still provides a space for visual treats and information that’s fun and from time to time, useful. @bagsonscreen, for example, is slowly becoming the social media library for the designer bags you’ve spotted in films and TV shows.
From the Fendi Peekaboo to the Moschino Heart Bag, you’ll be able to confirm how there’s a certain pride we take in being able to identify which bags our protagonists and villains tote around.

Moschino Heart Bag : The Nanny (1995) . “Well, I am smart enough to know I have just been insulted, and am sexy enough not to care.” . First of all, with thanks to @whatfranwore because that’s how I found this bag. I have followed their account for the longest time and am obsessed with it, so if you haven’t already go check it out! I loved The Nanny when I was a kid. I think I saw every episode as it came out, and my family watched it religiously. One of my earliest memories is seeing an episode where a dude feels up Fran’s behind and asking my mother why Fran got mad 🙈 25 years and a lot of unsolicited ass groping later, I get you Fran. I digress. This bag and Moschino is everything fabulous about the 90s and about Fran Drescher – campy, beautiful, edgy, intriguing (or “beguiling” to borrow a word from The Nanny’s theme tune). It’s also a nod to the film and TV stylists who put attention to the arm candy of their subjects. A designer bag attains its status not just by its label but also who it is associated with, fictional or not.

Louis Vuitton Murakami Cherry Blossom Alma PM : White Chicks (2004) . *insert Vanessa Carlton, 1,000 Miles piano intro* . I suspect it’s not ok to like this movie anymore. Yet if loving this movie is wrong, I don’t want to be white. Sorry, right. Another mid-2000s Murakami cherry blossom gem – this time an Alma PM with the classic monogram background. Literally the perfect bag for Brittany to be carrying (that’s right, I even looked up who was who). Bonus points for the LV doggo carrier, and infinity bonus points for the actual doggo. After some digging, I wonder if this bag is another movie fake? The Murakami cherry blossom print seems to have been fairly rare in the Alma, if it was ever in the Alma at all. Comment below if you ever owned or saw a genuine Alma in the Murakami cherry blossom. I’m not sure if I’m convinced… If this bag is real and did exist in a universe that isn’t a Wayans brothers fever dream, I would 100% wear this today. My 15 year old self looks at this bag through the years and rejoices, as does my inner white chick. Sometimes it’s ok to lean into your more embarrassing impulses.
